Secret to a Sound Ocean
Ground-breaking research on whales & ocean noise released

Whales are acoustic animals. Their lives depend on a quiet ocean to find food, mates and navigate.  Our work on underwater noise in important whale habitats has been all-consuming for the last 4 years.

Our research, in partnership with scientists at University of St Andrews and Cornell University, was published this week in Animal Conservation.

They say a picture's worth a thousand words, so our ocean noise video must be worth millions.  The video gives a gentle introduction to the basics of underwater acoustics.  We relied on Aeroplan donations to transport our equipment and team up and down the coast of British Columbia, and wanted you to see what we've been up to lately.
