Kids often move away from their parents to create their own lives and their own families but when the time comes to say goodbye to mom or dad, the need to reconnect is strong. It's a time for healing conversations, sharing family stories, and making final memories.
We, at Give A Mile, see more requests from people who want to see their mom or dad than any other relationship. So, it makes sense that in May and June we run our annual campaign to make those flights happen.
In 2022, we have set a goal to grant at least 25 flights in these next two months and to do that we need an extra push from our donors and supporters like you.
Here's how you can help.
Running a flight hero campaign can also be a great way to pay tribute to a parent who has passed. Helping another person have their final visit with mom or dad can be a wonderful legacy.
Help Connect Us to a Flight Recipient. Do you know someone suffering from a terminal illness who might benefit from a visit from a loved one? Tell them about Give A Mile. Our application process is simple and if they qualify, we can help.
Share and engage. We’ll be sharing one flight story per week for the next seven weeks. We’ll send them to you by email but they’ll also be featured on our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages. Please help us spread the word by liking, commenting or sharing our posts. We need more people to know about the good work that Give A Mile does.
Donate. We primarily grant flights using donated airline miles but we also need cash to help pay for taxes, fees, and operating expenses. We’re grateful for any support you can give. The minimum donation for points is 1,000 and any cash donation over $20 will get you a tax receipt. Donate here.
Become a Flight Hero. Flight heroes are people who use their own influence and networks to solicit donations on behalf of Give A Mile. It doesn’t take more than a few minutes to get signed up and then you’ll be assigned a flight coach who will help you set and achieve your target goals. It’s often as easy as reaching out to your Facebook followers or sending a quick email to your closest friends and family.
