About

The David McAntony Gibson Foundation, which operates as GlobalMedic, has provided life-saving aid in the aftermath of disasters since 2002. We were founded based on the idea that aid could be delivered more effectively and efficiently. GlobalMedic’s goal has always been to get the right aid to the right people at the right time. Professional emergency workers along with other professional and skilled volunteers help deliver our programs to the people who need it most. To date, GlobalMedic has provided humanitarian assistance to over 4 million beneficiaries in over 80 countries during 240+ responses.

Your donation of Aeroplan points goes towards getting that aid where it needs to be. Whether that be the equipment to keep our operations moving, the transportation of our program supplies or flights for our team members to the places that need us, these points count. All of the money that we save on these costs are carefully put towards our essential programming - specialized materials such as water purification equipment, emergency food, critical infrastructure tenting, and hygiene items. Without these materials, GlobalMedic could not have the life-saving impact that it does. Thanks to your ongoing support, GlobalMedic is able to continue doing what it does best, serving our global community.

Please visit www.globalmedic.ca for more details on our programs.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

  • Zero hunger

GlobalMedic has developed a well-equipped emergency food program in response to food shortages caused by domestic inflation and humanitarian crises internationally. Domestically, we are able to address growing levels of food insecurity, by offering both pantry essentials and fresh produce from our vertical farm to those in need through local food bank partners. Internationally, we provide access to culturally appropriate, pantry staples through our Emergency Food Kits, as well as providing access to locally purchased produce and prepared meals when appropriate.

  • Good health and well-being

GlobalMedic provides aid to people affected by disasters and conflicts. We provide items such as water purification solutions, emergency food, hygiene items, and shelter, all which promote the health and well-being of people affected by emergencies. We also deliver medical support in crisis zones by providing medical supplies, vaccines, birthing kits, and first aid kits to local health professionals. To maintain the good health of those affected by disasters, emergency kits may include oral rehydration salts, which are used to replace electrolytes which the body loses when one is dehydrated. We also use Lucky Iron Fish, a cooking tool to help naturally boost the iron content of food, and helps to fight iron deficiency and anemia.

  • Clean water and sanitation

It is far more effective to prevent illness than it is to treat it, and much more cost-efficient as well. By providing clean drinking water to families in crisis, we have helped save lives and prevented illness for thousands of people affected by disaster and/or conflict. We ensure access to clean drinking water with a number of different solutions which can be deployed separately or combined to best meet the needs of the response. GlobalMedic also runs hygiene programs to support the health of those facing emergencies, and partners with several organizations domestically to make hygiene items more accessible through our Hygiene Hub program.
