About

The Glenn Gould Foundation honours the spirit and legacy of Glenn Gould by celebrating brilliance, promoting creativity, and transforming lives through the power of music and the arts.

Our signature initiative is the Glenn Gould Prize, one of the world’s most important honours for artistic achievement, sometimes referred to as the “Nobel Prize of the Arts.” The $100,000 prize recognizes artists whose body of work has transformed the cultural landscape of our time, with an emphasis on innovation, humanitarianism, and uncompromising excellence.

In 2026, the Foundation will present the 15th Glenn Gould Prize to legendary musician, composer, and humanitarian Elton John in recognition of his extraordinary artistic achievements and his lifelong commitment to social impact through music and philanthropy.

Beyond the Prize, the Glenn Gould Foundation develops programs that explore the role of the arts in shaping society. Through performances, educational initiatives, partnerships with schools, and international dialogue, the Foundation brings together artists, educators, researchers, and community leaders to demonstrate how the arts and creativity can foster learning, well being, and social connection.

Our initiatives highlight the growing body of research demonstrating the transformative power of music. Music education has been shown to strengthen academic performance, support mental health, build community, and open pathways for young people. Music also plays a powerful role in engaging marginalized communities, including youth, newcomers, and individuals facing social barriers.

With the support of partners such as UNESCO, the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Government of Ontario, the W. Garfield Weston Foundation, the Aga Khan Museum, Air Canada, and National Bank of Canada, we continue to champion the role of the arts as a catalyst for creativity, innovation, and positive change in society.

PLEASE SUPPORT US WITH YOUR DONATION OF AEROPLAN POINTS. Your contribution will help us bring artists, educators, and cultural leaders together to inspire audiences, support young talent, and demonstrate the transformative power of music and the arts.
